'MAN + MACH1N3 VI' T-shirt from Collection V.
MAN + MACH1N3 explores the relationship between mankind and technology. The series of digital sculptures by Jam Sutton were created using technology as its medium, and as its subject.
The growth and development of the human race has accelerated rapidly, from the machine age to post war industrialisation, technology has been at the forefront of development and change. The artwork featured in this collection is inspired by technology’s advancement and its impact on society. Fusing the human form with 3D scans of engines, the artwork raises positive and negative issues arising from our relationship with technology.
The human form featured in the artwork is reminiscent of classical sculpture by Rodin, Michelangelo and antiquity, juxtaposing the classical nude with brutal modernist machinery.
The sculptures are exhibited through This Is Not Clothing as a wearable art print and interactive Augmented Reality experience by using the free 'This Is Not Clothing' app.
